Zaman al-Wasl previously published a list of several former Syrian regime members who were released on Saturday under the auspices of Fadi Saqr, one of the most prominent figures implicated in war crimes and violations during the Syrian revolution.
The newspaper published the names publicly, along with recent photos, as part of a community vetting process aimed at providing victims and witnesses with the opportunity to provide testimonies or any information that would contribute to exposing the crimes, demanding accountability, and achieving justice.
In this context, Zaman al-Wasl received several calls indicating that one of those appearing in the photos is Mustafa Nasr al-Ali, a group of documented photos later found showing him mutilating the bodies of rebels in the Zir al-Zor area.
Although the newspaper has not been able to conclusively confirm his identity, the artificial intelligence techniques used showed a high percentage of similarity between the published photos and the photos of the aforementioned person. However, the issue still requires further verification and scrutiny before confirming the person's identity and documenting his involvement in the violations.
