The Ministry of Interior announced that security forces seized a weapons and ammunition warehouse in the northeastern Homs countryside on Wednesday, which was being used as a supply source for outlaw groups working to destabilize the region.
In an official statement posted on the ministry's official Telegram channel, the ministry confirmed that the operation followed close monitoring and surveillance by the Homs Security Directorate, where various weapons and a quantity of ammunition were found inside the warehouse.
The statement explained that the seized warehouse was used by illegal armed groups as a primary source of weapons for their operations, which aim to disrupt public security in the Homs countryside and surrounding areas.
The ministry confirmed that all the seized items were confiscated, and the necessary investigations were carried out in accordance with established legal procedures. It did not specify the number or identity of the individuals associated with the warehouse.
This operation comes as part of the state's efforts to restore security and stability in areas where sporadic activity by elements of the former regime continues, especially after the announcement of the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024.
Since then, the Military Operations Directorate has opened settlement centers for former fighters to hand in their weapons. However, the refusal of some elements to participate in the settlement process has led to clashes in several governorates, including Homs and Daraa.
