Syria government seeks "mutual understandings" with US

Reuters revealed a letter issued by the Syrian government on Saturday, confirming that Syria has complied with most of the conditions related to easing US sanctions imposed on it, as part of its efforts to rebuild its international relations after the fall of the former regime.

The letter, in response to the US demands, stated that Syria had formed a specialized committee to monitor the activities of Palestinian factions on its territory and expressed its willingness to engage in further discussions on this sensitive issue.

Damascus affirmed its commitment to seeking "mutual understandings" with the United States regarding the outstanding issues between the two sides, emphasizing that Syria will not pose a threat to any party, including Israel.

Regarding the issue of foreign fighters, the letter clarified that this issue requires broader consultative sessions for in-depth discussion, noting that the issuance of military ranks to these fighters has been suspended for the time being.

This letter comes amid accelerated diplomatic efforts aimed at ending Syria's international isolation and promoting political and economic stability.
