Sweida Governor Mustafa al-Bakour confirmed that the agreement signed with the province's Sheikhs of Mind remains valid, and its provisions are being gradually implemented with the aim of restoring security and stability to the region.
He noted that minor amendments have been made to some provisions in response to requests from some parties, which will contribute to accelerating the implementation of the agreement, according to SANA.
Al-Bakour stressed that the Syrian state is continuing its efforts to resolve the problems in Sweida, expressing his optimism that the fruits of the tireless work undertaken over the past period will soon be reaped.
The governor also emphasized that the Druze community is an integral part of the Syrian social fabric, praising the Sheikhs of Mind's statement, which rejected foreign interference and emphasized the need to resolve internal problems through dialogue among the people of Syria.
It's worth noting that the recent agreement reached between the Syrian government and notables from Sweida province stipulates the integration of local factions into state institutions, the revitalization of judicial police, the payment of overdue salaries, and a review of the status of those dismissed from their jobs. It also calls for reforming government institutions, preserving civil peace, and preventing encroachment on public and private property.
