Syria seeks rapprochement with Washington: Trump Tower project in Damascus among Sharaa's initiatives

In a move aimed at reshaping relations with the United States, informed sources revealed to Reuters that Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa is pursuing initiatives that include building a Trump Tower in Damascus and negotiations with Israel. These initiatives are part of efforts to secure a direct meeting with US President Donald Trump during his upcoming visit to the Gulf.

These moves are part of Syria's efforts to ease US sanctions that have negatively impacted the Syrian economy. Al-Sharaa is seeking to offer economic and strategic incentives to the United States, including opportunities in the energy sector and cooperation in combating Iranian influence in the region.

American pro-Trump activist Jonathan Bass is playing a pivotal role in arranging a meeting between the two leaders, expressing his hope that this meeting will contribute to improving relations between the two countries.

Although a direct meeting between al-Sharaa and Trump has not yet been confirmed, sources have indicated that indirect meetings have taken place between Syrian and Israeli officials in Abu Dhabi, under Emirati auspices, to discuss security and political issues, including Israel's occupation of nine Syrian hills. It should be noted that Washington is setting several conditions for easing sanctions, including removing foreign fighters from Syrian military positions and providing guarantees that they will not threaten Israel.
