Israeli military says it arrested Hamas members in Syria

Israel’s military said on Thursday it arrested members of Palestinian militant group Hamas in countryside outside Syria's capital Damascus.

The Syrian Ministry of Interior revealed the death of a civilian and the kidnapping of seven people during an Israeli incursion targeting the village of Beit Jinn, in the Qatana area.

The ministry explained in a statement that Israeli military forces, backed by tanks, armored personnel carriers, and reconnaissance drones, stormed the village at dawn today, carrying out raids and arrests targeting a number of residents. These raids resulted in the kidnapping of seven Syrian citizens, who were transferred to the occupied territories, while their fate remains unknown.

The statement indicated that the attack included direct gunfire at residents, resulting in the death of a civilian, a scene that sparked popular anger in the region.

The Syrian Ministry of Interior affirmed that these "repeated provocations represent a flagrant violation of Syrian sovereignty and a blatant breach of international laws and conventions," emphasizing that such "aggressive practices will not contribute to stability in the region, but will rather lead to further tension and unrest."

In a related development, Quneitra Governorate announced on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation army had detained a vehicle and three sanitation workers affiliated with the Quneitra City Council near the town of Al-Qahtaniyah. The statement did not provide any details about the reasons for the detention or the fate of the detainees.
