Syrian airspace reopens to civil aviation and gradual resumption of flights

The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced the full reopening of Syrian airspace to civil aviation, stating that the airspace is now safe and ready for use in accordance with international aviation standards.

This announcement came after a period of temporary closure due to security developments in the region, which affected air traffic and led to the suspension of a number of flights.

In this context, Syrian Airlines announced on Saturday the gradual resumption of its air operations. The first phase of the resumption includes flights to three main destinations: Kuwait, Doha, and Sharjah.

The company clarified that the resumption of flights remains subject to the security situation, warning of the possibility of sudden changes to departure times or cancellations of some flights in the event of any developments on the ground that may require the airspace to be closed again.

Syrian Airlines also urged passengers to arrive at airports well in advance of their departure times to avoid any potential obstacles or unexpected changes, stressing that the goal of these measures is to ensure that flights operate as smoothly as possible.

The state-owned airline recommended travelers follow its official platforms or visit its authorized offices for the latest information regarding flight schedules and any emergency updates to operational plans.

It is worth noting that Syrian Airlines had previously announced the temporary suspension of its flights due to the security situation, pending improvement in conditions and a return to stability.
