Al-Qaim-Albukamal border crossing reopens with Iraq

The General Authority for Land and Sea Ports announced on Saturday the reopening of the Al-Qa'im-Albukamal border crossing with Iraq to passengers and trucks after a period of closure. This step aims to stimulate trade and facilitate humanitarian transit between the two countries.

In a statement published on its Telegram channel, the Authority stated that specialized personnel began receiving travelers in the early morning hours and providing the necessary facilities to ensure the smooth and safe flow of traffic at the crossing, amidst strict regulatory and security measures.

The crossing witnessed the passage of the first commercial convoys heading from Syria to regional and international markets, reflecting the beginning of a gradual recovery in transportation traffic through this vital crossing.

The Authority affirmed its commitment to continuing to develop the infrastructure at border crossings and improving the quality of services provided, enhancing Syria's position as a strategic corridor for regional trade and consolidating its pivotal role in linking Arab and international markets.

The Al-Qaim-Albukamal crossing is one of the most important land crossings between Syria and Iraq. It is of particular economic and logistical importance, as it represents a major artery for the movement of goods and passengers between the two countries.
