Iran confirms deaths of IRGC intelligence chief and his deputy in Israeli strikes

Mohammad Kazemi, head of the Intelligence Organization of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and his deputy, Hassan Mohaqeq, were killed in Israeli attacks, the IRGC confirmed on Sunday.

In a statement, the IRGC said Mohsen Bagheri – another IRGC commander – was also killed, along with three unnamed security personnel.

Earlier on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin strongly suggested that Kazemi and Mohaqeq were killed in an Israeli aerial strike.

“Moments ago, we also got the chief intelligence officer and his deputy in Tehran,” Netanyahu told Fox News in an interview, adding that “our brave pilots are over the skies of Tehran, and we’re targeting military sites, nuclear sites.”

On Friday, Israel launched a large-scale offensive on Iran, targeting mainly military and nuclear sites, with the stated goal of preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

The strikes have killed several senior Iranian military commanders, including Hossein Salami, Mohammad Bagheri, Amirali Hajizadeh, and Gholamali Rashid, among others. Several nuclear scientists were also killed in the attacks.
