Through reviewing security correspondence between 2013 and 2017, Zaman al-Wasl obtained a list of 21 children of detainees, both male and female, whom Air Force Intelligence transferred to SOS Children's Villages or childcare centers in Damascus and its countryside during that same period.
The correspondence did not include any reference to the fate of these children, but some information confirms that a number of them were handed over to their families after the fall of the Assad regime.
One of the correspondences explicitly mentioned that one of the children was transferred to live in the home of a first assistant working in the investigations branch, which reinforces doubts about the fate of the detainees' children and the parties that received them.
