Church holds mass for three detainees executed in Tadmur prison in 1982 after Zaman al-Wasl revealed their fate

The Greek Orthodox Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation held a mass on Saturday for three detainees executed in Tadmur (Palmyra) Prison between 1982 and 1983, after their fates were confirmed according to documents published by Zaman al-Wasl.

According to a source close to the newspaper, the church confirmed the fates of Joseph Mitri al-Jawabra, Hanna Adeeb al-Eid, and Issa Khalil al-Jawabra, four decades after the arrest of Zaman al-Wasl. This happened after Zaman al-Wasl published a list of more than 1,000 people executed by Hafez al-Assad's regime in Tadmur Military Prison.

The charge for which they were executed included "membership in a suspicious right-wing organization," a euphemism used by the Syrian regime at the time to refer to the Iraqi Ba'ath Party. The three were arrested in 1980.
