The commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, arrived in Damascus on Tuesday as a preliminary step for negotiations with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, in implementation of the recent March 10 agreement.
Informed Syrian sources confirmed that Abdi arrived accompanied by a delegation from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, including Abdul Mahbash, co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration, and several other members of the delegation.
The SDF delegation is accompanied by the US-led international coalition forces, which played a mediating role in arranging these upcoming talks between the two parties.
This round of negotiations comes amid efforts by all parties to find political solutions to the ongoing crisis in Syria, within the framework of the March 10 agreement, sponsored by several international parties.
An informed source told Syria TV that the meeting will bring together US envoy to Syria Tom Barrack, President al-Shara'a, and Abdi, the SDF commander .
Al-Kasdr stated that some provisions of the agreement may undergo amendments at the request of the SDF and in agreement with Washington. The amendments relate to the implementation period set at the end of this year and to changes related to the demands of the Syrian Kurds. France will join the United States in overseeing the implementation of the agreement between the SDF and the Syrian government and preventing any escalation on the ground.
The US envoy will also discuss cooperation between the international coalition, the Syrian government, and the SDF in the fight against ISIS in Syria.
