New Syria: Challenges of Assad's Remnants and Uncontrolled Weapons

It has become clear that external parties seek to exploit any event concerning Syrians in specific areas, with the aim of igniting strife driven by the polarization within society, and then intervening later under the pretext of "protecting minorities."

These actors are relying on the open wounds of 14 years of death and displacement, and on the blood of a million martyrs that has yet to heal, especially given the delay in "transitional justice."

The hidden role of remnants of the regime is also not ruled out. Some of them see the chaos as a way to escape accountability, and even to revive illusions like "Maher is back."

The state is making great efforts to repel these attempts, but they alone are not enough. What is required today is the dismantling of any armed faction or group operating outside the framework of the state, and their designation as outlaws, unrelated to the revolution or the interests of the people.

The former regime is over, and the current phase is to defend national legitimacy, reject foreign interference, and move toward rebuilding the nation on clear foundations.

The popular role remains crucial in exposing these plots without exaggeration, and in supporting the relevant authorities to eliminate them quickly and decisively.
