The Syrian channel "Syria Now," in its program "Under the Ashes," presented a misleading account of the two brothers who leaked the footage of the Tadamon massacre, according to a source familiar with the case. The source stated: "I will present the Syrian people with details that the program overlooked, as follows: Arabs and the peoples of the Middle East
- The brothers Yazan and Youssef Jumaa, and their father, Mohsen Hamdo Jumaa, are all veteran members of the National Defense Forces. They served for over a decade in Tadamon and Daf al-Shouk in Damascus, and oversaw a number of checkpoints.
- Yazan bin Mohsen Jumaa, National Defense Forces membership number (11012106490), holds a security ID. He joined the National Defense Forces on December 2, 2013, and served until August 19, 2020. At that time, by a high-ranking decision, he was transferred from a National Defense Forces fighter to a self-defense fighter (remaining on alert with his weapon, but living his life without official duty). He remained in this position until he fled Syria (10 years of service).
- Youssef bin Mohsen Al-Jumah, National Defense Forces membership number (11012102197), holds a security ID. He joined the National Defense Forces on December 2, 2013, and served until March 20, 2017, but maintained an administrative connection with the National Defense Forces Center until August 30, 2021 (serving for 8 years).
- Their father, Mohsen Hamdo Al-Jumah, National Defense Forces membership number (11012102085), holds a security ID. His previous occupation was as an employee in the Damascus Governorate (Directorate of Vehicles and Equipment). He joined the National Defense Forces on December 2, 2013 (the father and his two sons joined on the same day, representing the entire family, as Mohsen has two sons and a daughter). His classification, along with that of his son Yazan, was changed from National Defense Forces fighter to Self-Defense Forces fighter on August 19, 2020. He worked in the field of "security studies" in the Daf Al-Shouk area south of Damascus, a common gateway to detention centers.

In the "Syria Now" episode, all this information was ignored, and it was denied that Yazan had served in the National Defense Forces, even though he had been a fighter for over 10 years. His brother, Youssef, claimed he served for only 5 months, while Yazan had served for several years.
The testimony did not mention their two accomplices who filmed the videos...
The source concluded: "This is the information I will reveal now while we prepare the rest of the details. However, 'Syria Now' must verify the backgrounds of the individuals it hosts before distorting the narratives of the revolution and turning some people into paper heroes."
In effect, the two brothers and their father are accused of war crimes. After serving for 10 years with full equipment in the ranks of the National Defense Forces militia at the height of the systematic killings, they used the videos as a passport when needed and successfully turned it into a long-term investment project, including European support and citizenship in a European country.
