Sweida: Who has hospital surveillance recordings knows who killed 140 security personnel, Bedouins

The deadly violence at the Sweida hospital lasted approximately 48 hours (July 15-16). Surveillance cameras captured it, but only three minutes were released a month later. This leaves a whole series of events missing, most notably the killing and exhumation of 140 bodies belonging to General Security personnel and Bedouins.

The video's publisher chose to publicize the killing of a medical staff member—an undoubtedly reprehensible crime—while deliberately concealing the sequence of crimes committed by the Hijra militias in the same location. In doing so, he incriminated himself, as there is now documented footage of the events. The full truth could be revealed if the militias released the remaining footage covering the 48 hours, excluding the three minutes already shown—but I doubt it.

While the killings were rightly condemned, deeper suspicions now surround the burial of 140 unidentified bodies in a mass grave. Surveillance footage could identify their killers, or at least their identities.

The video was clearly politically weaponized, coinciding with yesterday's Security Council session. The distributor, who had withheld the footage for over a month, waited for the "right moment" to release it, ready to exploit even the victim's blood for narrative purposes.

A brief review of the timeline reveals that Internal Security Forces entered the hospital to find dozens of bodies belonging to the General Security and Badawi. Then came the Israeli airstrikes, forcing those forces to withdraw.

The killings in the hospital cannot be addressed in isolation or politically, because the obvious question remains: Who killed the others? And where is the rest of the 48-hour footage—minus the three minutes that were released?

Sequence of Events Over 48 Hours

- Al-Hijri's militias surrounded the hospital, claiming it housed members of the army and General Security (a claim made in several recorded clips).

- The militias then took control of the hospital, admitting they had "eliminated the individuals inside" (documented on video).

- Hours later, Syrian government forces took control of the hospital.

- The massacres and bodies inside—including civilians, Syrian security personnel, and soldiers—were later revealed (documented on video).

Government forces withdrew after Israeli raids, followed by a Turkish militia vehicle.
