Tishreen Hospital records reveal hundreds of detainees, some dead, others with unknown fates

Zaman al-Wasl publishes photos of the admission register at Tishreen Military Hospital in Damascus, which includes the names of hundreds of detainees who arrived during the first quarter of 2016.

In the register, the word "corpse" is written next to the name of each person who arrived dead, while the remaining names belong to individuals whose fates are unknown, whether they were injured, detained, or later died.

Tishreen Hospital is known as a death center, where those who arrive alive are killed, and death reports are falsified to conceal the causes of torture and murder taking place in detention centers and government hospitals under the Assad regime.

The lists include the names of doctors and nurses accused of involvement in the torture and murder of detainees, most notably Dr. Mufid Darwish, the hospital director, and forensic doctor Akram al-Shaar, who wrote the death report for the child Hamza al-Khatib, along with a number of medical staff and workers accused of crimes.

The documents reveal part of the systematic killing system inside Tishreen Hospital, which witnessed the tragedies of thousands of detainees under the criminal Syrian regime.

These documents are all that Zaman al-Wasl currently has about Tishreen Hospital. We will continue our efforts to uncover more.
