Raqqa tribes affirm support for Syrian govt and adhere to March agreement

The international coalition, attended by French military and civilian figures, held a meeting with tribal sheikhs in Raqqa city on Sunday. During the meeting, the need to implement the March 10 agreement concluded between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces was emphasized.

Sheikh Hamed al-Faraj, sheikh of the Walda tribe, which comprises 13 tribes, said at the meeting: "We support a unified Syria, a single state with its capital, and we emphasize the need to implement the terms of the agreement signed between Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and General Mazloum Abdi, without prejudice to any clause or paragraph of this agreement. We demand the activation of the integration process as soon as possible, under UN and international auspices."

Al-Faraj affirmed his full support for the agreement, calling for both parties to implement it as agreed upon.

The meeting, which included 17 tribal figures, witnessed a majority of those present supporting the agreement, while some called for greater recognition of decentralization. Despite the divergent positions, the meeting was described as positive, with the tribal sheikhs reiterating their support for the Syrian government.

Participants called on the international coalition to pressure the SDF to implement the agreement as soon as possible, emphasizing the need to complete it in a spirit of cooperation and commitment.
