Zaman al-Wasl has learned that the Ministry of Energy is about to appoint Engineer Youssef Youssef as General Manager of the Syrian Gas Company, replacing former Director Amin al-Daghri, who fled to an unknown location, likely outside the country, following the renewed exposure of corruption cases related to contracts with the Russian company STG, worth millions of dollars.
This is al-Daghri's second escape. He previously escaped from Adra Central Prison on the eve of the liberation, where he had been detained on corruption charges in previous years, before being reappointed as General Manager of the same company.

Sources within the company confirmed that al-Daghri worked during his tenure to dismiss a number of engineers and technicians who had contributed to exposing his violations, allowing him to manipulate large contracts and commit further violations.
Zaman al-Wasl had previously published questions about how a person convicted of corruption could be reassigned to his previous position. It later emerged that the appointed director repeated the same scenario and fled again.
