Black market dollar exceeds 'counterpart' in Central bank bulletin

The Syrian pound's exchange rate against the dollar declined on the local black market during trading on Saturday.

On Saturday evening, the Damascus dollar ranged between 11,100 Syrian pounds for buying and 11,200 Syrian pounds for selling.

The dollar recorded the same or similar rates, with a difference of no more than 100 Syrian pounds, in most Syrian cities.

Thus, the black market dollar rate exceeded its counterpart in the official bulletin, which ranges between 11,000 Syrian pounds for buying and 11,110 Syrian pounds for selling.

Over the past four months, the prevailing equation has been for the dollar rate on the black market to be significantly lower than the official bulletin rate.

On the black market, the euro ranged between 13,000 Syrian pounds for buying and 13,125 Syrian pounds for selling.

The Turkish lira exchange rate against the Syrian pound ranged between 267 Syrian pounds for buying and 272 Syrian pounds for selling.

The Turkish Lira exchange rate against the US dollar ranged between 40.24 Turkish Lira for purchase and 41.24 Turkish Lira for sale.
