The countryside of Deir ez-Zor witnessed security tensions early Sunday, following an attempt by members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia to infiltrate Syrian Army positions.
This attempt occurred in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, near the towns of Dhiban, Al-Shakkiyah, and Al-Shafah, leading to violent clashes between the two sides, in which machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades were used.
In a related development, the SDF militia, stationed in the town of Abu Hamam in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, opened indiscriminate fire toward the village of Al-Kashma, located on the opposite bank of the Euphrates River.
Concurrently, forces from the 66th Division reinforced military positions on the river bank in Deir ez-Zor.
