Israeli incursion into Quneitra countryside, Local workers arrested

Israel renewed its incursion into the Quneitra Governorate in southwestern Syria on Wednesday, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

SANA reported that an Israeli force consisting of two tanks and four military vehicles entered the town of Jubata al-Khashab in the Quneitra countryside and established a checkpoint at the entrance to the quarries on the road connecting it to the village of Ain al-Bayda in the northern Quneitra countryside.

According to Syria TV, Israeli forces arrested a group of Syrians working in the local quarry. Earlier, an Israeli patrol in the village of al-Ma'ariya in southern Syria arrested two people "suspected of having ties to militants from extremist groups."

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the daily incursions by Israeli forces into Syrian territory. In a statement on the social media platform X, the ministry described these practices as a "flagrant violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Israeli and Syrian forces in the Golan Heights." The Syrian Foreign Ministry's statement called on the international community to take immediate action to stop the Israeli attacks.

Damascus repeatedly condemns Israeli violations of its sovereignty, affirming its commitment to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between the two sides, which Israel declared defunct after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in late 2024.

Israeli violations in Quneitra have recently escalated, with Syrians there complaining of Tel Aviv's incursions into their agricultural lands and their only source of livelihood, the destruction of hundreds of acres of forests, as well as the arrest of individuals, the establishment of military checkpoints, and the searching of passersby.

Since last December, the Israeli army has repeatedly entered Syrian territory and launched airstrikes in various areas. Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara had previously announced that the Israeli army had carried out more than 1,000 airstrikes and more than 400 incursions since the overthrow of Assad on December 8, 2024.
