Security forces carried out a security operation against a cell affiliated with the ISIS terrorist organization in the town of Suran in Hama province, resulting in the arrest of three of its members and the seizure of an ammunition depot, according to the SANA news agency.
The head of internal security in Hama, Osama Zain al-Din, said that "the cell was targeting civilians, Syrian Arab Army personnel, and internal security forces," explaining that "specialized units carried out the operation after closely monitoring the movements of the cell's members in the town of Suran, and were able to arrest three of them and seize a weapons depot containing explosive belts, improvised explosive devices, rocket launchers, as well as various bombs and ammunition."
Zain al-Din affirmed that internal security forces will continue their efforts to pursue all those involved and apprehend the remaining members of the terrorist cell.
The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the day before yesterday that its security units, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Directorate, carried out a large-scale security operation targeting cells affiliated with ISIS in a number of governorates, based on accurate intelligence and close monitoring of the movements of these elements over the past weeks.
