The CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Youssef Qablawi, revealed a strategic plan that includes completely shutting down the current Homs refinery and transforming its land into a fully integrated residential area encompassing hospitals and schools.
This came in a statement to Al-Thawra newspaper on the sidelines of the seventh International Petroleum and Energy Exhibition, "Syriapetro 2025," where Qablawi explained that the new refinery will be built at a location approximately 50 kilometers from the city of Homs.
He affirmed that the new refinery will supply the country with sufficient quantities of fuel to meet local needs and eventually reach the export stage, as part of a comprehensive vision aimed at reshaping Syria's energy landscape.
The CEO also revealed progress in negotiations with leading international energy companies, noting a new beginning in cooperation with Chevron and ConocoPhillips' readiness to sign significant contracts in the country.
