Deir Attiya, Syria – In a violent armed assault on Saturday evening, four civilians were killed and two others were injured. The attack, carried out by three unidentified gunmen, targeted a currency exchange office and a neighboring car rental office in the city of Deir Attiya, located in the countryside of the Syrian capital.
According to a report from the state news agency SANA, which cited a security source, the assailants first attempted an armed robbery of the currency exchange. They then moved to the adjacent car rental office, where they opened fire on the people inside, resulting in the casualties.
The security source further detailed that employees at the car rental office had attempted to intervene and prevent the robbery, prompting the gunmen to shoot directly at them before fleeing the scene.
Following the crime, units from the Internal Security Forces were immediately deployed to the area. They have launched a pursuit operation to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
