Interior Ministry warns against sedition calls and affirms right to demonstrate

The spokesperson for the Syrian Ministry of Interior, Noureddine al-Baba, confirmed that the right to demonstrate and express opinion is guaranteed for all Syrians. He pointed out that the state is the sole guarantor for meeting the demands of the people, while simultaneously warning against being drawn into external calls aimed at inciting sedition and destabilizing stability.

The ministry's spokesperson explained, via his Telegram channel, that he visited the city of Homs accompanied by internal security leaders. They met with a number of residents from various components who had experienced unfortunate events during the past period, were reassured, and engaged in "positive and productive" dialogues. He indicated that the visits took place in calm atmospheres without recording any assaults, thanking the people of Homs for their good reception.

Al-Baba reiterated that the Ministry of Interior is concerned with protecting the right to express opinion for all citizens, calling for avoiding being drawn into external calls which he described as seeking to "corrupt the societal fabric and potentially provoke unnecessary reactions."

Regarding the protest gatherings in some areas of the coast, the Interior Ministry spokesperson explained in statements to the "Syrian News Channel" that internal security forces secured these gatherings to prevent any emergency incidents that could be exploited by parties "promoting chaos." He confirmed that the ministry preserves the right to peaceful demonstration within the framework of the law and without disrupting public order.

Al-Baba pointed out that the parties pushing for chaos in the coastal areas "reside outside the country and are disconnected from the living reality of the residents." He noted that the chanting of sectarian slogans in some gatherings reveals the nature of the objectives behind those calls and does not reflect the genuine demands of the people of the region.

The Interior Ministry spokesperson concluded by reaffirming that the Syrian state is the sole guarantor of the demands of all citizens, and that dealing with these demands cannot happen through "scenarios of chaos or calls whose purposes the Syrians know well."
