A statement by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns the criminal aggression carried out by a patrol of the Israeli occupation army, which infiltrated the area of the town of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside and blatantly assaulted the residents and their properties. This led to direct clashes as the townspeople confronted the invading patrol and forced it to withdraw from Syrian territory. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates affirms that the occupation forces' subsequent targeting of the town of Beit Jinn with brutal and deliberate bombardment, following the failure of their infiltration, constitutes a full-fledged war crime. This resulted in a horrific massacre claiming the lives of more than ten civilians, including women and children, and caused a significant displacement movement due to the ongoing savage and deliberate shelling of the homes of innocent people. The Syrian Arab Republic holds the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for this serious aggression and its resulting casualties and destruction. It considers that the continuation of these criminal assaults threatens security and stability in the region and falls within the context of a systematic policy to destabilize the situation and impose an aggressive reality by force. The government renews its call to the Security Council, the United Nations, and the Arab League to take urgent action to put an end to the policy of aggression and repeated violations perpetrated by the Israeli occupation against the Syrian people, and to take deterrent measures that ensure respect for international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic. Syria affirms that it will continue to exercise its legitimate right to defend its land and its people by all means sanctioned under international law, and that these crimes will only strengthen its adherence to its rights and sovereignty, and its rejection of all forms of occupation and aggression.
