Quneitra, Syria – In a continued pattern of violations, Israeli occupation forces carried out a new ground incursion early today towards the village of Burayqa in the southern countryside of Quneitra.
According to the state-run news agency (SANA), an occupation force composed of three vehicles—including two Hilux pickup trucks and a black van—advanced toward the village and patrolled the road connecting the water well known as "Al-Kabbas" and the battery factory, located on the route between the villages of Burayqa and Kodana.
This incident follows a series of incursions yesterday across several areas in both the southern and northern countryside of Quneitra, where occupation forces established temporary checkpoints, conducted searches of civilians, and obstructed the movement of local residents.
Analysis: A Calculated Strategy of Escalation and Testing
These repeated ground operations, far from being isolated breaches, reflect a deliberate Israeli strategy that operates on two parallel tracks:
On-the-Ground Provocation: Directly challenging the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian state through frequent, low-level military intrusions. These acts normalize the presence of Israeli forces inside Syrian territory, intimidate the civilian population, and gradually alter the security reality on the ground.
Political and Strategic Messaging: The timing and nature of these incursions serve as a pressure tool against the Syrian transitional government led by President Ahmad al-Sharaa. They are designed to test its resolve, response capabilities, and the seriousness of its international backing—particularly from the United States, which has recently advocated for a "prosperous Syria." This dual approach mirrors the previously noted contradiction between Israel's public rhetoric about possible agreements and its aggressive field practices.
By consistently breaching the 1974 Disengagement Agreement—which established a buffer zone and limitations on military forces—Israel not only violates international law but also undermines the very foundations of regional stability. These actions raise critical questions about the long-term objectives of the Israeli government: is it seeking to create irreversible facts that would preempt any future peace negotiations, or is it attempting to derail the fragile political progress and reconstruction efforts currently underway in Syria?
