Three people were killed and 60 others injured when remnants of the former regime attacked security forces and civilians during protests in Latakia today.
The Health Directorate explained in a statement to SANA that the injuries treated at hospitals included those caused by bladed weapons, stones, and gunfire inflicted by remnants of the former regime on security personnel and civilians.
The Directorate also reported that two ambulances were taken out of service after being attacked and vandalized by protesters while on duty. It confirmed that medical personnel are continuing to provide necessary first aid to the injured and handle emergency cases.
Since the fall of the former regime, groups affiliated with it have emerged, rejecting the current political and institutional transition. These groups have resorted to incitement and calls for demonstrations under divisive slogans, pushing the public toward violence and exploiting it as a civilian front to target security forces and the army, as well as vandalize public property.
