Kurdish forces kill 20 ISIS fighters near Kobani

Al HASAKAH (Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 20 fighters of Islamic State militant group have been killed on Thursday in the ongoing clashes with Kurdish forces near Ras al-Ayn town in the western countryside of al-Hasakah.

Kurdish People’s protection Units (YPG), confirms via its official website their control on Islamic State’s bases in al-Rawyah village after heavy clashes.

The statement confirms killing of 20 fighters of the Islamic State “IS”, 3 Indonesians among them.

Eye witnesses confirmed to Zaman al-Wasl that Fighters of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) showed the bodies of killed ISIS fighters in cars wandering around neighborhoods of Ras al-Ayn and Amoda.

Activists reported that Kurdish attacks on Islamic State’s bases in Ras Al-Ayn took place after capturing 30 female fighters from Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) during battles in West countryside of Ras Al-Ayn.

PYD fighters tried to ease pressure on the Kurdish town of Kobani Ayn Al-Arab “Kobani” by opening other battles around like Ras al-Ayn and other villages of Kurdish majority, activists concluded.

Meanwhile, American-led forces have sharply intensified air strikes in the past two days against Islamic State fighters threatening Kurds on Syria's Turkish border after the jihadists' advance began to destabilize Turkey, Reuters said.

The coalition had conducted 21 attacks on the militants near Kobani over Monday and Tuesday and appeared to have slowed Islamic State advances there, the U.S. military said, but cautioned the situation remained fluid.
