The Ministry of Interior announced the deployment of Internal Security Forces in the Ashrafieh neighborhood of Aleppo, as part of a plan to restore security and stability in neighborhoods recently handed over to the state following the withdrawal of armed groups affiliated with the SDF.
The Ministry explained via its Telegram channel that its units have begun their duties to protect civilians and prevent any violations or manifestations of chaos, in coordination with army units deployed in the neighborhood.
Earlier today, the Syrian government, in statements regarding the developments in Aleppo, affirmed that the chaos and escalation on the ground are a direct result of the SDF's violation of the April 1st agreement, which has undermined previous understandings and opened the door to tension and instability.
The government emphasized that the Kurds are a fundamental and integral component of the Syrian people, and the state views them as full partners in the nation, not as a separate party or an exceptional case.
The SDF escalated its shelling and indiscriminate gunfire, targeting residential neighborhoods and civilian-populated areas around the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud districts. This resulted in the deaths and injuries of dozens of civilians, mostly children and women, and caused significant damage to infrastructure. The army responded to the sources of fire to protect civilians and declared the two districts a military zone, after opening two humanitarian corridors for residents to evacuate yesterday.
Out of concern for the safety of civilians and in compliance with international law, the army today published, via Syrian state television and news platforms, the locations it will target, so that residents can evacuate to save their lives.
The Internal Security Command in Aleppo Governorate called on all members of the SDF to immediately defect, surrender their weapons, and contact the relevant authorities to ensure their safety. It also designated the direct number 0989551382 to receive requests for safe passage and weapons surrender.
