The Aleppo Water Authority announced the resumption of water pumping to Aleppo Governorate from the Babiri station, confirming that water supply has begun to gradually return to various neighborhoods of the city.
In a post on its Facebook page today, Sunday, the Authority explained that the water pumping process was successfully resumed, noting that work is underway to fully stabilize the network according to available technical capabilities.
The Authority indicated that, starting at 4:00 PM today, drinking water will be supplied to the Saif al-Dawla, Radio, Azamiyah, Ansari, Mashhad, and Zabdiyah neighborhoods, as well as the eastern part of the Salah al-Din neighborhood and surrounding areas. The supply to the remaining neighborhoods will be completed gradually.
Earlier today, Minister of Energy Muhammad al-Bashir explained in a post on the X platform that water pumping had resumed to areas of Aleppo, following a temporary interruption of several hours at the Babiri station in the eastern Aleppo countryside. He emphasized the Ministry's commitment to ensuring the continuity of service and restoring vital services.
Minister al-Bashir stated: "After the water pumping from the Babiri station in the eastern Aleppo countryside was interrupted for several consecutive hours, we assure our people in Aleppo Governorate and its countryside that water pumping to the area has been resumed."
Al-Bashir affirmed the Ministry of Energy's full commitment to taking all necessary measures to ensure the continuity of the pumping process and prevent any interruptions. He noted that the relevant institutions in the governorate are continuing their work to restore vital services to all neighborhoods and towns in Aleppo.
Water pumping from the Al-Babiri water station in the eastern Aleppo countryside was halted last night after the SDF forced the station's technical staff and employees to completely shut down the drinking water supply. This station is the primary and only source of drinking water for more than four million residents of Aleppo Governorate, making this attack a clear crime against humanity and a blatant violation of international law.
