The media director of the Aleppo Health Directorate, Munir al-Muhammad, confirmed to SANA that the number of victims of the SDF's targeting of residential neighborhoods has reached 24 dead and 129 wounded since last Tuesday.
During the past period, the SDF used the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo as a launching point for its repeated attacks on Syrian Arab Army and Internal Security Forces positions, in addition to targeting civilians in neighboring areas. This prompted the army to respond to the sources of fire to protect the residents, and the two neighborhoods were declared a military zone. The government then oversaw the evacuation of residents through two safe humanitarian corridors.
The Syrian Arab Army's Operations Command announced yesterday the cessation of all military operations within the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo, and the securing of a safe return for residents after the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood was completely cleared of mines and explosives that had been present in SDF positions. The SDF militants who had been entrenched in the neighborhood were also transferred to northeastern Syria.
