SDF recruited former Assad forces: Syrian Intelligence

An intelligence source confirmed that the SDF is recruiting individuals wanted by the Syrian state and those who have fled to its areas in exchange for allowing them to remain there.

The intelligence source told SANA that large numbers of remnants of the former regime and individuals wanted for various crimes have become fighters alongside the SDF, noting that these criminals are being recruited with support from Iran and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a designated terrorist organization.

The source explained that PKK elements, in cooperation with the SDF, are responsible for bombing Aleppo with Iranian-made drones. He pointed out that these elements exploit the remnants of the former regime, supplying them with explosives and bomb-making materials to target civilian gatherings and Syrian army and security forces.

The source indicated that the Military Intelligence Directorate managed to thwart several terrorist operations during the SDF's escalation in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo.

The Syrian Arab Army Operations Authority issued a warning earlier today declaring the Deir Hafer and Maskana area in the Aleppo countryside and its surroundings a closed military zone, after the SDF continued to mobilize its groups with the PKK terrorist militias and remnants of the defunct regime in that area, calling on citizens to stay away from SDF positions there.
