Syrian army extends Deir Hafer humanitarian corridor amid PKK-linked obstruction

Aleppo (SANA) The Syrian Arab Army’s Operations Command said on Thursday that groups from PKK terrorist militias allied with the SDF organization are preventing civilians from passing through a humanitarian corridor near the town of Deir Hafer, in the Aleppo countryside of northern Syria.

In a series of statements to SANA, the Operations Command announced the extension of the humanitarian corridor for one additional day, on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, urging civilians to use the designated route.

The Operations Command warned that “any site that obstructs the passage of civilians will be targeted in the appropriate manner,” according to the statement.

It added that all field preparations have been completed to secure the area surrounding the corridor and facilitate safe civilian movement.

The Operations Command also called on civilians to “immediately distance themselves from any site affiliated with the SDF organization” the statement said.

The Operations Command of the Syrian Arab Army had announced Wednesday via official media outlets the securing of safe humanitarian corridors to be used by civilians residing in Deir Hafer who wish to exit the area.
