Eastern Aleppo: Civil Defense Continues Evacuations of Families from SDF-held Areas

For the second consecutive day, the Syrian Civil Defense teams, part of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Disaster Management, continued providing assistance and transporting a number of families, the elderly, and the sick. This followed the successful evacuation of several residents from the Deir Hafer and Maskana areas in the eastern Aleppo countryside on Friday, after they managed to leave areas controlled by the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces).

The Syrian Civil Defense explained via its Telegram channel on Friday that the residents faced significant difficulties in leaving, as the SDF prevented them from using the humanitarian corridor announced by the Syrian Arab Army's Operations Command. They were forced to traverse agricultural lands and dangerous areas littered with mines, and cross a destroyed bridge over a water channel to reach safe areas.

SDF Prevents Civilians from Reaching the Hmeimeh Corridor

These difficulties and dangers faced by residents in the Deir Hafer area of eastern Aleppo countryside stem from the SDF's prevention of civilians from using the safe corridors designated by the Syrian government for their evacuation from areas under its control. This is part of the ongoing efforts to protect civilians and ensure their safety, particularly in light of the escalation of violence by the SDF in the region.

The Syrian Civil Defense confirmed that its teams provided assistance to the sick, the elderly, and a number of families, transporting them to temporary shelters designated by the Aleppo Central Response Committee in the rural areas of Deir Hafer, Manbij, and al-Bab.

Earlier today, the Deir Hafer district administration confirmed that, despite the Syrian Arab Army's Operations Command extending the deadline for civilians to leave Deir Hafer and its surrounding areas, the SDF continues to prevent civilians from exiting through the safe humanitarian corridor in the village of Hamimah.

A SANA correspondent also reported that the SDF prevented civilians from exiting through the humanitarian corridor in the village of Hamimah and forced them to return after firing shots near the village of al-Harmal in the Deir Hafer area of eastern Aleppo countryside.

Extension of the Humanitarian Corridor

The Syrian Arab Army's Operations Command had announced the extension of the humanitarian corridor it had designated for the safe exit of civilians through the village of Hamimah on the M15 highway, the main road connecting Deir Hafer and Aleppo, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday.
