Interior Ministry investigates reports of "massacres" in Hasakah

The Syrian Interior Ministry reported early Monday morning that it had received reports of what it described as "massacres" in the northeastern province of Hasakah.

In a statement published on its platforms, the ministry said: "The Interior Ministry is following with great concern and seriousness the reports received regarding massacres in Hasakah province."

The statement added: "The Interior Ministry confirms that its relevant agencies have immediately begun the necessary investigations to verify the information received."

Hasakah province is witnessing escalating security tensions and rapid demographic and military changes. Local sources and eyewitnesses have reported that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have carried out a series of arbitrary measures targeting the Arab population in the region.

Sources from the villages of Ain al-Hara and Ab al-Shouk, located in the vicinity of Mount Abdul Aziz, confirmed that the SDF leadership issued direct orders to civilians to immediately evacuate their homes, which are to be converted into military headquarters and outposts. One affected resident reported that the forces had already seized his neighbors' homes and demanded that his family leave, emphasizing that these actions are being carried out under intense security pressure.

In the city of Qamishli, specifically in the Tayy neighborhood, reports emerged of SDF forces carrying out summary executions of prisoners from the Arab community within their prisons in the area. These reports come amidst a media blackout imposed by the forces regarding the detainees.

Units of the Ministry of Interior began entering the city of Raqqa, in preparation for a systematic deployment throughout its neighborhoods, as part of a comprehensive plan aimed at establishing security and stability and protecting citizens and their public and private property.

Minister of Interior Anas Khattab stated in a post on the "X" platform: "Our security forces are deploying with high efficiency in the new areas entered by the Syrian Army."

He added that this "comes within the framework of its duties to secure the population, impose stability, and maintain security, thus ensuring the safety of citizens and the continuity of public life in all areas."

This came after the announcement of an agreement signed between the Syrian government and the SDF for a ceasefire and the integration of Kurdish forces into the Syrian army.

The ministry said in a statement that this step comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to control the security situation in various cities and regions and ensure a safe and stable environment for all citizens.
