Three Syrian soldiers killed in clashes with SDF

The Syrian army announced on Monday that three of its soldiers were killed in an attack by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) while they were deployed in northeastern Syria. Meanwhile, the Kurdish forces accused Damascus of launching attacks against their positions in Ain Issa, al-Shaddadi, and Raqqa, and called for a general mobilization.

This escalation comes less than a day after the Syrian government and the SDF announced a ceasefire agreement.

The Syrian army said in a statement carried by the official news agency SANA that three soldiers were killed and others wounded "during two attacks targeting our deployed forces."

The Syrian army accused what it called the "Kurdistan Workers' Party" (PKK) and "remnants of the former regime" of "attempting to disrupt the implementation of the agreement by targeting Syrian army forces."

For its part, the SDF, in a statement, accused government forces of "continuing their attacks on the Syrian Democratic Forces in Ain Issa, al-Shaddadi, and Raqqa, despite the ceasefire."

She indicated that "fierce clashes" were taking place between her forces and the Syrian army around the al-Aqtan prison in Raqqa, which houses ISIS detainees, and described the development as "extremely dangerous."

The Kurdish "Autonomous Administration" published a "general mobilization" announcement on its Facebook page, calling for resistance against the Syrian army in the northern and eastern provinces of the country.
