First crude oil shipment arrives in Baniyas from Deir Ezzor

Twenty tankers carrying crude oil from the fields in Deir Ezzor have arrived at the Syrian Petroleum Company in Baniyas, the company said Sunday.

According to the company, the oil came from the al-Omar and al-Tanak fields in Deir Ezzor, which were previously controlled by the SDF. This marks the first shipment of crude oil to reach the company from Deir Ezzor since the Syrian Arab Army consolidated control over the area.

The company announced Saturday that it began extracting oil from fields in northeastern Syria recently recaptured from the SDF. The crude is being transported to refineries in Homs and Baniyas.

Safwan Sheikh Ahmad, the company’s communications director, said the operations aim to restore the fields to their previous production capacity. He projected that output could reach around 100,000 barrels per day within four months, a development expected to boost the country’s energy sector and national economy.
