(Zaman Al Wasl)- A video posted online by rebels' supporters showed number of Syrian regime slain soldiers in Qalamoun Mountains as Islamist fighters took control of their military base on the Lebanese border last Monday.
The fighters al-Asala Front have stormed the bastion near Syrian border town of Asal al-Ward on the of Lebanese Bekaa valley.
Last weeks, sporadic clashes on the disputed Qalamoun region erupted between rebels and regime forces backed by fighters of Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah.
In relevant development, Hezbollah had lost many fighters over the past few weeks during the clashes in Syria's Qalamoun Mountains. On Wednesday, bodies of 6 Hezbollah militants were delivered to their families, southern Lebanon.
Lebanese media mocked Hezbollah’s humiliating defeats inflected by Syria’s al-Qaeda wing Nusra Front after storming their base in Lebanese Brital village, leaving 18 fighters dead and documenting the ‘raid’ in a video posted online.
Hezbollah has lost 840 fighters in Syrian war, sources said, amid a severe blackout by the ‘Islamic Resistance’ leadership to keep fighters' morale high.
Syria's war has been the battleground for a struggle between groups supported by Sunni Muslim states including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and Assad's government which is backed by Shi'ite Iran.
The conflict began with pro-democracy protests in 2011 and rapidly descended into sectarian war in which more than 191,000 people have been killed.
