Syria’s civil aviation authority said Sunday that Turkey has supplied new ground-based navigation systems to Aleppo International Airport to improve flight safety and operational efficiency.
The head of the Syrian Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority, Omar al-Hosari, said the delivery included an Instrument Landing System (ILS) and a Doppler Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range (DVOR), which allow aircraft to land safely in poor weather and provide precise navigational guidance.
Installation work is under way, and the systems are expected to become operational after calibration and technical approval, the authority said.
The move follows a similar supply by Turkey to Damascus International Airport in recent weeks, as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade navigation systems at Syrian airports to enhance regional and international connectivity.
