Governor of Sweida denies siege rumors

The Governor of Sweida, Mustafa al-Bakour, affirmed that the state continues to fulfill its national duties towards the people of the province, categorically denying the existence of any imposed siege and emphasizing that the supply of basic goods is proceeding normally and regularly.

In a statement to Syrian TV, al-Bakour said that the quantities of flour entering the province range between 500 and 600 tons weekly, refuting claims circulating about restrictions or shortages of basic supplies.

He explained that outlaw groups are seeking to destabilize the province to achieve personal gains, using what he described as flimsy pretexts. He indicated that the state is ready to resolve the issue of detainees and secure their release, but that some parties within Sweida are obstructing these efforts for dubious purposes.

The Governor concluded by calling on all parties to engage in a comprehensive national dialogue within the province, considering it the only way to alleviate the suffering of citizens, guarantee the rule of law, and preserve the rights of all under the umbrella of the state.
