Brigadier General Ziad al-Ayesh, the presidential envoy tasked with monitoring the implementation of the January 29 agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announced the commencement of the return of displaced residents to their homes in the Aleppo countryside. He confirmed that the first groups would begin returning next Monday under the direct supervision of the Syrian state.
In a statement to Al-Ekhbariah TV, al-Ayesh explained that a series of coordination meetings were held with the governor of Aleppo, the head of internal security, and the directors of the Afrin and Kobani (Ayn al-Arab) regions to finalize the return arrangements.
A presidential delegation, accompanied by the director of the Afrin region and several Kurdish dignitaries, is scheduled to travel to Hasakah city this afternoon, Sunday, to meet with Hasakah Governor Noureddine Ahmed and displaced residents of Afrin to finalize the arrangements for their return.
The presidential envoy affirmed the readiness of state institutions for this process, highlighting the following:
- Completion of preparations: All technical and logistical arrangements have been finalized to ensure the safe and dignified transport of the residents. - Expanding the scope of returns: The director of the Ain al-Arab region will travel to the al-Shuyukh subdistrict in the Aleppo countryside to prepare the conditions for the return of its displaced residents.
- Organized plan: The first convoy will depart tomorrow, Monday, along secure routes supervised by government authorities.
The Syrian State's Message: Brigadier General al-Ayesh emphasized that the Syrian state is committed to returning all displaced persons from all Syrian communities to their homes, noting that the primary goal is to strengthen stability and enshrine the principle of coexistence among all citizens in a safe environment that guarantees the dignity of every citizen.
This step comes as part of implementing the terms of the January agreement and aims to end the suffering of thousands of displaced families and restore normalcy to the targeted areas.
