Syrian Internal Security launches anti-drug operation in Homs province

Syrian Internal Security forces launched an operation in western Homs province, central Syria, targeting drug trafficking and smuggling networks, the Internal Security Command in the city said Thursday.

The command told SANA that the operation led to the arrest of 20 people involved in drug-related activities. The detainees were referred to the relevant authorities for further investigation.

Later, unknown assailants attacked the district administration building in the town of Tell al-Shour, in an attempt to hinder the operation, the Command added. Authorities imposed a temporary curfew in the area following the attack to maintain public safety.

Security forces later detained four individuals suspected of involvement in the incident, according to the Internal Security Command.

The security body said operations would continue against individuals threatening public security and urged residents to comply with the temporary curfew.
