Polling stations opened in the Raqqa and Tabqa electoral districts in northeast Syria to elect members of the People’s Assembly, according to election authorities.
Voting is scheduled to continue until 12:00 p.m. local time. Authorities allow a one-hour extension only if the required minimum turnout is not met.
Ballot boxes will be closed after the extension period, regardless of participation levels, after which vote counting will begin ahead of the release of official results.
In February, Syria’s Higher Committee for People’s Assembly Elections issued the final list of subcommittees for the two electoral districts in Raqqa province.
Raqqa province comprises three electoral districts: Raqqa, Tabqa and Tal Abyad. Two representatives for Tal Abyad were elected at the end of October.
