Security forces seize 335,000 Captagon pills in central Syria

The Anti-Narcotics Directorate thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics, which were hidden inside tires on a passenger bus traveling on the Homs-Hama International Highway, destined for a Gulf state.

In a statement released Wednesday, the Ministry of Interior explained that the operation followed meticulous surveillance and tracking. A well-planned ambush was set up for the targeted bus, leading to the arrest of the driver and his accomplice.

The statement added that a thorough search revealed the narcotics concealed inside tires stored in the bus's storage compartment as a means of disguise and to avoid detection.

The Ministry indicated that the operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 335,294 Captagon pills, in addition to the arrest of the main individuals involved, from the tire suppliers to those who orchestrated the shipment.

The detainees were referred to the relevant authorities for further investigation and to take the necessary legal measures against them.
