CCTV footage from Saydnaya prison broadcast

Leaked surveillance footage from Saydnaya Prison, run by the former regime, reveals detailed information about the waiting and control rooms, offering rare visual documentation of what was known as the "human slaughterhouse."

Activists circulated the footage, recorded by the prison's internal monitoring system. Former detainee Hamza Nader, after its release by an anonymous source, identified the locations shown, confirming they were the court waiting rooms, visitation areas, and control rooms within the "Red" section of the prison.

1. Court Waiting Room: The footage shows detainees in forced waiting positions, including one with a leg injury and a military detainee moving around without being blindfolded. Nader confirmed he personally entered this room in 2015 before his summary trial.

2. Control Center: The footage shows a military officer from the former regime monitoring the prison's cells and corridors via multiple screens.

3. Visitation Management: The footage shows the room responsible for organizing or denying visits to prisoners in both the "Red" (security) and "White" (military judicial) sections.

Technical assessments and the appearance of "wax" suits in the clips indicate that the recordings date back to the last months before the liberation of the prison and the fall of the old regime, when an unknown person seized the storage units (Hard Drives) of the surveillance system.
