Lebanese President Joseph Aoun discussed Wednesday with Chargé d’Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Beirut Iyad Hazzaa bilateral relations between Syria and Lebanon and ways to enhance cooperation in several sectors.
A statement published by the Lebanese presidency on its official X account said Aoun received the Syrian diplomat and reviewed with him bilateral relations between the two countries across various fields.
The meeting comes days after a Lebanese delegation headed by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam visited Syria and held talks on Saturday with President Ahmad al-Sharaa.
Discussions during the visit focused on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding economic and trade cooperation in a way that serves the common interests of both countries.
The talks likewise addressed enhancing security coordination to support stability and confront shared challenges, in addition to exchanging views on regional and international developments and other issues of mutual concern.
