Israeli incursion into western Daraa countryside sparks tension among residents

Israeli occupation forces advanced into the Wadi al-Raqad area near the village of Jamla in western Daraa countryside on Sunday, amid heightened tensions and anxiety among residents.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that an Israeli force consisting of three tanks and two armored vehicles, one equipped with a DShK heavy machine gun, entered the border area in Wadi al-Raqad and conducted maneuvers near the village of Jamla before establishing a temporary presence.

The incursion sparked fear among residents, particularly farmers living near the valley, given the ongoing Israeli military activity in parts of western Daraa countryside.

Last Wednesday, Israeli forces had also advanced into the Wadi al-Raqad area near the town of Jamla in the Yarmouk Basin region.

The Israeli occupation continues to violate the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through incursions into southern Syria, in addition to carrying out raids, arrests, land confiscation, and shelling.
