Damascus, May 19 (SANA) A soldier was martyred and several others were wounded after a car bomb exploded near a Defense Ministry building in the Bab Sharqi area of Damascus, the Defense Ministry’s Media and Communication Directorate told SANA.
The directorate said a unit of the Syrian Arab Army had discovered an explosive device planted near the site and moved to dismantle it before the blast occurred.
Director of Ambulance and Emergency Services at the Health Ministry Dr. Najib al-Naasan told SANA that 12 people were injured in the car explosion in the Bab Sharqi area of Damascus.
He said the injured were transferred to nearby hospitals in the area and received the necessary medical treatment.
Earlier, SANA’s reporter said that that an explosion had been heard on the outskirts of Damascus as authorities worked to determine its nature.
