Malik Moussa, assistant director of the Administration, said the operation followed monitoring and investigation efforts that led to discovery of the shipment which was professionally concealed inside pottery containers before being prepared for transport.

He said authorities dismantled the trafficking cell, arrested all seven members, including the network leader, and referred them to the relevant judicial authorities.

Moussa added that anti-narcotics units continued to intensify operations aimed at combating drug trafficking and limiting its impact on society.

Earlier this month, Syria’s Interior Ministry announced that anti-narcotics authorities had foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of Captagon pills into Jordan after traffickers allegedly used remotely controlled balloons equipped with tracking systems to bypass border surveillance measures.
